Jason Memmelaar - East Coast Threat - Professional Downhill Mountain Biker
The name they gave me is Jason Memmelaar. However, my compadres call me MemmelGnar. I am a dedicated and passionate Professional Downhill Mountain Bike racer and rider. With my father being a professional quad racer and my mother not letting me abuse my body like he had, I started my racing career at the early age of 10 in BMX. Then I went on to Cross Country Mountain biking racing. That became to boring so, I started racing and riding downhill. I started my Downhill racing career in 2003 raced in expert 19-29 for only 2 seasons. During my second year I had enough points to race in the Semi-Pro class. 2007 was my year to shine as I upgraded to Pro. And I did just that.
At this moment in time, I'm making the downhillers gamble; the less you work the more time you have to ride, but the less money you have to play. My training consists of trail riding 4 to 5 times a week, whether it be on my trail bike or my downhill rig. Along with mountain biking I ride my YZ250 for cross training. Training usually occurs at the end of the day after my 8 hour a day construction job is over.
I look forward to hearing from you. Jason Memmelaar
